Mabel’s debut children’s picture book, Kantiga Finds the Perfect Name, was published in South Africa in 2020 by Jacana Media and the American version was published by Interlink Publishing in May 2023. The beautiful illustrations were done by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne.

2022 World Read Aloud Day Ambassador

In 2022, as the ambassador for the 2022 Nal’ibali World Read Aloud Day, Mabel wrote and shared the 2022 story, “A Party at the Park”. The story was translated into all eleven official South African languages as well as Swahili, Shona, French, Chichewa, Portuguese and Lingala.

Stories from the Cadbury in Our Words Project
Cadbury and The Nal’ibali Trust partnered to produce 46 children’s books in 2021. Mabel Mnensa was one of the authors chosen to write books for pure reading pleasure which are available in all the 11 official languages.
