Mabel Mnensa enjoys creating alternate worlds and realities in her fiction, often inspired by rich African oral traditions. Her speculative fiction is driven by a deep belief in storytelling’s power to inspire positive change. Her work includes short stories like Jozi’s Calling in the acclaimed anthology Joburg Noir and a forthcoming novel that continues to push creative boundaries.

Children’s Picture Books
As a child who loved the library, Mabel loves creating children’s stories—her debut book Kantiga Finds the Perfect Name was inspired by family stories. She has also partnered with Nal’ibali and Book Dash to create fun, inclusive stories for children in many languages
